About us
A free, independent tax calculator built by people who were tired of signup walls.
Welcome to Global Income Tax Calculator
Understanding your true take-home pay shouldn't require digging through a government tax portal, decoding dense legislation, or building your own spreadsheet. Global Income Tax Calculator exists to do that work for you: pick a country, enter your salary, and see exactly where every dollar, pound, or rupee goes before it reaches your bank account.
Who built this

Shivansh Tiwari

Global Income Tax Calculator was built by Shivansh Tiwari, a software developer based in Lucknow, India. Shivansh is the Founder & CEO of Prolixis, a technology company building AI infrastructure and automation tools, incubated at IIT Ropar's Technology Business Incubation Foundation (TBIF), and is currently completing a B.Tech in Computer Science at Lovely Professional University.
This site started from a specific frustration: every take-home pay calculator that already existed was locked to one country. Anyone comparing a job offer abroad, planning a move, or working across borders had to jump between five different single-country tools and do the comparison math themselves. This site puts that comparison in one place, calculated the same way for every country so the numbers are actually comparable.
What this calculator actually does
Global Income Tax Calculator provides gross-to-net salary estimates for the United States, United Kingdom, India, Canada, and Australia, including state and provincial-level rules for California, New York, and Ontario. It's built to go further than a flat percentage guess:
Marginal tax brackets, applied correctly. Income is taxed in slices, not as one flat rate on the whole amount — the calculator applies each bracket's rate only to the portion of income that falls inside it, the same way tax authorities actually calculate it.
Income tax kept separate from social contributions. US FICA (Social Security and Medicare), UK National Insurance, Canadian CPP and EI, Australia's Medicare levy, and India's health and education cess are calculated as their own line items, not folded into a single "tax" number, because they behave differently and are worth seeing separately.
Capped and uncapped limits handled correctly. Some contributions stop once income crosses a ceiling — US Social Security and Canadian CPP/EI both work this way — while others, like Medicare, apply to every dollar with no cap. The calculator respects both behaviors rather than treating every deduction the same.
Multiple regimes where they exist. India's new and old tax regimes are modeled separately, including the Section 87A rebate, so you can compare both instead of guessing which one applies to you.
How we keep it accurate
Every rate and threshold in this calculator comes from officially published government sources: the IRS and relevant state tax agencies for the US, HMRC for the UK, the CRA for Canada, the ATO for Australia, and the Indian Income Tax Department for India. When tax law changes, like the OBBBA provisions taking effect for the 2026 US tax year or the UK's Making Tax Digital rollout, the calculator and accompanying guides are updated to reflect it.
Every article published on this site draws from primary sources and is checked against at least one additional official source before publishing, and gets revisited when the underlying law changes rather than left to go stale.
Your data never leaves your browser. Every calculation runs client-side in JavaScript on your own device. Nothing you type into a calculator here, salary figures, filing status, location, is transmitted to a server, logged, or stored anywhere.
What this site isn't: a substitute for professional tax, legal, or financial advice. Results are estimates for a standard filer under typical assumptions; things like dependents, itemized deductions, pension contributions, and local city taxes can change your real number. For decisions that matter, confirm with a qualified accountant or your local tax authority.

This site is actively expanding, more countries, more state and provincial rules, deeper calculation logic. If you spot an outdated rate, have a feature request, or just want to ask a question about how something is calculated, reach out directly:
